05/10/16 Welcome to a new academic year at Ysgol Llanbedrog!
Welcome to a new academic year at Ysgol Llanbedrog, with 79 children on our register, including 11 young pupils in the Nursery class. We are very pleased that all have settled exceptionally well, especially under the more challenging than usual circumstances this year, because of the building work. We also welcome Mrs Sian Elfryn as a new Foundation Phase teacher to the team.
Two classes have been totally re-built over the summer and are now in action, looking great. The hall, rooms adjoining the hall and the new extension are progressing well. We look forward to welcoming you to a visit when all is ready for us to show off!! It’s a very exciting development.
01/09/16 Date New Term Starts for Pupils

Y Den
We had the privilege of visiting the den exclusively before it was opened to the public. We had a wonderful afternoon whizzing down the slides, jumping into the ball pools and climbing through tunnels and nets. All the children were out of breath with big slides on their faces.
Thank you very much to the staff at The Den and we wish you success with the new venture. Click here to see the photos.

On the 7th of July the children enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon to say farewell to year 6 pupils. The three school teams, Henllys, Pedrog and Cwmwd took part in a variety of competitive activities, with Henllys becoming the winning team. Following this, year 5 and 6 pupils worked hard on different stalls, selling cakes, face painting etc.
Thank you to everyone that joined us on our annual sponsored walk to Quarry Beach. A great crowd gathered at the school before setting off. A light refreshment was enjoyed at the beach and a chance to socialise and play before heading back home.
The school’s cricket team was successful in a competition held at Bodegroes. They played extremely well going through to the final round on the 23rd. The ‘Cricket Spirit’ cup was also won by them as a result of incredible teamwork and exceptional behaviour towards members of the other teams. Well done, we’re very proud!
Key Stage 2 pupils joined William Jones, one of the brave Welshmen, on his epic journey from Wales to Patagonia. They were transported back in time to the hardship of 1865 Wales; heard about Michael D. Jones's epic plans to create a new Welsh colony; experienced the fun and tragedy on board the Mimosa followed by the reality that greeted them on the shores of Patagonia. Everyone enjoyed the performance as the history came alive in front of their eyes.
Key Stage 2 pupils visited Plas Glyn y Weddw to see the exhibition celebrating 150 years since the first Welsh settlers arrived at Patagonia. They saw the contemporary work by the artist Luned Rhys Parri who visited Patagonia recently and six other gallery artists. All the pupils were busy answering questions and looking for Welsh characteristics in different art works.
It was a day to remember day at St Pedrog Church on the day of the wedding. Years three and four had been very busy beforehand arranging card, invitations, order of service and studying suitable music for the service. The service was in the capable hands of Andrew Jones with Mrs Shirley Pritchard on the organ. A few e-mails and letters were written beforehand to ensure that everything was perfect for the bride and groom, Leus and Max. The reception was unforgettable, roast dinner made by Auntie Susan with cupcakes made by the children to follow.
Year 6 children enjoyed a jam-packed three days in our capital city in the company of children from some other local schools; Nefyn, Sarn Bach, Pentreuchaf and Chwilog. We stayed in the Urdd’s centre in the Millennium Centre and enjoyed memorable visits to Techniquest, Millennium Stadium, cinema, swimming pool, maritime museum as well as a thrilling experience on a speedboat in the bay and scoffing more than one Cadwaladers’ ice cream!.
To coincide with the work on the theme ‘Yr Ardd’ (The Garden), the Foundation Phase children enjoyed a trip to Pili Palas, Anglesey, during which they had the opportunity to learn about the life cycle of a butterfly amongst other garden creatures. It was an adventurous day full of fun.
The children of years 5 and 6 managed a conquest by walking all the way to the Summit of Snowdon, without much complaint! They ascended up the Pyg track and descended the Snowdon Ranger Path. It was a wonderful day; the sun was shining brightly, the views were breath-taking and every child persevered positively up and down. Well done, quite an accomplishment!
